KARACHI, October 29, 2025 — The Karachi administration has intensified its citywide campaign against adulterated milk, sealing seven additional shops found selling urea-contaminated milk in the districts of South, East, and Malir. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Sindh Food Authority as part of an ongoing effort to eliminate substandard and hazardous milk from the market.

Citywide Operation to Ensure Safe Milk Supply

According to officials, milk samples collected from all seven shops tested positive for urea — a chemical fertilizer dangerous to human health. The sealed outlets include Madina Nagori and Bismillah Nagori in Aram Bagh, Nagori Milk Shop on Wahid Murad Road, Haji Asim and Haji Arif in Fatima Jinnah Colony, and Dairy Product at Manzil Pump in Malir. Dilpasand Dairy in Gulistan Society, which had earlier been shut down for formalin contamination, was again found selling toxic milk.

Commissioner Chairs Key Meeting

The decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, attended by all Deputy Commissioners, DG Food Authority Shehzad Fazal Abbasi, Additional Commissioner Ghulam Mehdi Shah, and officials from the Bureau of Supply. Assistant Commissioner Rabia Syed presented the report outlining the inspection results and ongoing enforcement measures.

Naqvi stressed that adulterated milk poses a severe threat to public health and reiterated that no leniency will be shown toward violators. “Selling harmful milk is a crime against citizens,” he stated, directing all Deputy Commissioners to continue random checks and take strict legal action against offenders.

Heavy Penalties for Offenders

Authorities have decided that none of the sealed milk shops will be reopened until owners pay substantial fines and provide written guarantees ensuring future compliance with food safety standards.

27 Shops Closed in Two Days

In just two days, the Karachi administration has sealed 27 milk outlets across the city for selling contaminated products. Milk samples from these establishments were verified at the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) laboratory, confirming the presence of urea.

The Sindh Food Authority emphasized that this operation is part of a broader crackdown on adulteration to safeguard public health and maintain the quality of consumable goods in Karachi.
