MIRPUR MATHELO, November 2, 2025 — Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ghotki, Manzoor Ahmed Kanrani, the district administration has launched a 10-day Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) campaign aimed at controlling the spread of malaria and dengue across the region.
The drive covers five major cities of Ghotki district — Ghotki, Ubauro, Mirpur Mathelo, Khangarh (Khanpur Mahar), and Daharki — where mosquito repellents are being sprayed inside homes and along residential streets to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. To strengthen the effort, larvicides are also being applied to stagnant and contaminated water sources such as drains, ponds, and ditches to prevent the development of larvae.
Deputy Commissioner Kanrani emphasized that the operation is being conducted on an emergency basis to protect citizens from vector-borne diseases. Despite limited resources, the campaign has been rolled out at a large scale through collaboration between the health department and local government, reflecting the administration’s commitment to safeguarding public health.
More than 600 personnel from the revenue and local government departments are actively taking part in the spraying activities. Officials including assistant commissioners, mukhtiarkars, and departmental officers have been instructed to supervise operations closely to ensure maximum effectiveness.
The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to maintain cleanliness, avoid water stagnation, use mosquito nets, and support the field teams in their efforts. He stressed that community cooperation is essential for the campaign’s success and long-term prevention of dengue and malaria outbreaks across the district.
