ECP Announces New Date for Punjab By-Elections: Polling Set for November 23
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a revised schedule for the upcoming by-elections in Punjab, confirming that polling will now be held on November 23, 2025.
According to an official ECP spokesperson, five constituencies across Faisalabad and Sahiwal will go to the polls — including NA-96, NA-104, NA-143, PP-98, and PP-203.
Updated Election Timeline
Under the revised timeline, appeals against Returning Officers’ decisions can be filed until October 24, while election tribunals are expected to issue their rulings by October 31.
The final list of candidates will be published on November 1, with the deadline for withdrawing nominations set for November 3. The allocation of election symbols will take place on November 4.
The commission stated that the new schedule has been prepared in accordance with the Election Act, 2017, and directed all political parties, candidates, and election staff to strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct.
Polls Rescheduled After Flood Disruptions
The ECP previously postponed the by-elections in several constituencies across Punjab due to severe rainfall and flooding, which affected transportation and access to polling stations.
The affected constituencies — including NA-129 Lahore, NA-143 Sahiwal, NA-66 Wazirabad, NA-104 Faisalabad, and NA-96 Faisalabad — will now be covered under the new election schedule.
The decision aims to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the polls, following weeks of logistical disruptions caused by flooding.
