Saudia Airlines Rolls Out Free High-Speed WiFi for Passengers — Up to 800 Mbps Connectivity at 30,000 Feet

Saudia Airlines has officially launched its free in-flight high-speed WiFi service, setting a new standard for digital connectivity in the skies. The initiative, introduced on November 1, reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience as part of its broader digital transformation strategy.

🚀 Fast, Free, and Seamless Connectivity

The pilot phase currently delivers impressive internet speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing passengers to stream, browse, and video chat with ease. Future upgrades are expected to increase this speed to 800 Mbps, making it one of the fastest in-flight WiFi offerings in the region.

Travelers can connect multiple devices, stream live videos, or join virtual meetings without disruption — a major advantage for business and international flyers who rely on stable internet while traveling.

🛫 Fleet Expansion Underway

So far, around 20 Saudia aircraft have been equipped with the new system, with more to follow as regulatory approvals are completed. Officials confirmed that the service will gradually expand to cover the airline’s entire fleet.

The Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, described the initiative as “essential for modern air travel,” emphasizing that work is ongoing to accelerate the rollout across all routes.

🌍 Competing in the Regional Sky

Saudia’s new feature comes at a time of growing competition, with Riyadh Air entering its soft launch phase. While Riyadh Air has not yet confirmed plans for free WiFi, aviation experts anticipate that it will soon introduce high-spec connectivity to match international standards.

Compared to other Gulf carriers, Saudia now leads in accessibility. Emirates offers complimentary WiFi only for certain cabins or Skywards members, while Qatar Airways introduced 500 Mbps connectivity on selected Boeing 777 aircraft earlier this year.

💡 Setting a Benchmark for the Future

With this move, Saudia positions itself as a regional leader in passenger convenience and innovation, ensuring travelers stay connected — from takeoff to landing. The airline’s latest service reinforces Saudi Arabia’s vision of becoming a global aviation hub powered by technology and world-class service standards.
