Samsung Electronics has once again taken the lead in the global smartphone market, regaining the No. 1 position for the third quarter of 2025.
According to the latest data released by industry research firm Omdia, the South Korean tech powerhouse outperformed all its competitors, reaffirming its dominance in the international mobile
market.

Strong Growth Driven by Foldables and Budget Models

Omdia’s quarterly report shows that Samsung shipped 60.6 million smartphones worldwide between July and September 2025, securing a 19% share of the global market. This marks a noticeable rise from 57.5 million units shipped in the same period last year — a solid 6% year-on-year growth.

Analysts credit Samsung’s success to its diverse product lineup, which has struck a perfect balance between innovation and affordability. The newly launched Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldables have driven strong sales in premium markets, while the Galaxy A07 and A17 models continue to dominate emerging regions thanks to their value-for-money appeal.

Apple Trails Close Behind

Apple came in second place, shipping 56.5 million iPhones in Q3 2025, representing an 18% global market share. Meanwhile, Chinese brands Xiaomi, Transsion, and Vivo followed closely, capturing 14%, 9%, and 9% shares respectively — showcasing how fierce competition remains in the global smartphone landscape.

Samsung’s Winning Strategy

Experts say Samsung’s strategy of combining cutting-edge innovation with affordable offerings has clearly paid off. Its success in both high-end and mid-range segments demonstrates how the brand continues to resonate with consumers across different markets.

With strong sales momentum and an expanding product ecosystem, Samsung has not only reclaimed its global leadership but also set the stage for an even more competitive showdown in the coming quarters.
