Bahrain – Pakistan’s rising wrestling star, Hassan Ali, brought home a bronze medal in the 70kg beach wrestling category at the Asian Youth Games 2025, held in Sama Bay, Bahrain, on Thursday.
Hassan displayed remarkable strength and composure, overpowering Tajikistan’s Idris Bakhromov with a clean 2-0 victory in the bronze medal match. His dominant performance earned Pakistan its third medal at the ongoing Games.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan’s kabaddi team also secured bronze, while the volleyball squad claimed silver, finishing as runners-up after a competitive final against Iran on Wednesday night.
Although Hassan Ali was seen as a strong contender for gold, he narrowly missed a spot in the final after a tough 2-1 semifinal loss to Iran’s Sina Shokouhi. Another national wrestler, Abdul Rehman, fought valiantly but was defeated 2-0 by Jordan’s Zaid Naghouj in his bronze medal match.
The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) extended heartfelt congratulations to the athletes, commending their dedication and hard work. The POA stated that these achievements highlight Pakistan’s growing potential in youth sports and international competitions.
