Maryam Nawaz Launches Punjab’s First Mobile Police and Licensing Units
LAHORE, October 21: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the province’s first Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit Project, a pioneering step to make policing and public services more accessible—especially for residents of remote and underserved regions.
Under this initiative, specially designed mobile units will now provide on-spot registration of FIRs, issuance and renewal of learner, regular, and international driving licenses, and dedicated services for women. The move is aimed at saving citizens time and ensuring that government facilities reach every corner of Punjab.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister personally inspected the mobile police stations, handed over keys to officers, and interacted with the assigned staff. She directed them to serve citizens with empathy, professionalism, and a public-friendly attitude.
Officials briefed Maryam Nawaz that a fleet of 33 Mobile Police Stations and Licensing Units will be rolled out across Punjab. Among these, seven “Pink” Mobile Police Stations, managed entirely by female officers, will exclusively serve women, creating a safe and comfortable environment for them.
Authorities added that a detailed movement schedule of these mobile units will soon be shared so residents can know in advance when the services will be available in their areas.
Calling the project a “milestone toward modern and inclusive policing,” the Chief Minister said it reflects her government’s dedication to transparency, accessibility, and public trust. She reaffirmed that Punjab is moving toward a more connected, responsive, and citizen-centric model of governance.
